The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI'm "branching out" somewhat...
I record CD's for people when they ask me to, usually from their old vinyl, or cassettes.
This way they can have CD's in their cars, (most of them are those who want those,) some of the records and cassettes the people haven't listened to in literally decades.
Some of my customers are relatives, of course.
But in a couple days I'll be getting a new gadget, it transfers old home movies to digital format.
I have some myself, and once I get the hang of running this new gizmo, I'll transfer 8mm/Super8 films to DVD.

(118,845 posts)house and he had the digital setup in his livingroom. He was the only one I found in the phone book I think. It was before the web. I had to drive across the city. I had the home movies from two families. The second time I had about 8 small reels and needed to make four copies. I had no car. I went to the local camera place and he had to take a cut too. I felt sorry for him because he owned a camera store in 2013. He always overcharged. He needed too I bet. Both times I was so relieved to find someone. He went under pretty soon after that. Of course now it would be cheaper and you could look online. I still have more film to transfer. You can bet I'm going to look for a deal when i get up to it. I did one reel earlier that those two sets. Can't remember where. Apparently my parents wedding was supposed to be somewhere but I don't know where. We have never seen it on film. Here is the wedding I so want to find the film for:

(46,359 posts)And I sure as heck won't charge hundreds, I'll charge my going rate for CD's, the price of the blank DVD's and $1 per recording.
And postage, naturally.
