The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting the longest & coldest winter in years

https://www.kmov.com/news/the-old-farmers-almanac-is-predicting-the-longest-coldest-winter-in-years/article_991a5e06-0b1c-11ec-8641-5f2795efb3af.html?fbclid=IwAR0IiKDlE8zlQ-qU7WUTgKo3Z0OdjG49d9kj_5G-nkFY9i6MrxeSFgHZxcc

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a chilling winter forecast.

It predicts colder than usual temperatures for nearly the entire country – including the Midwest. Their editor said, “This coming winter could be one of the longest and coldest that we’ve seen in years.” Even worse, they’re predicting extra snow for our area.

There’s debate on how accurate these predictions are. News 4 This Morning Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt said The Old Farmer’s Almanac predictions “doesn’t jive with what the Climate Center is saying in the setup that we have right now.” He said it is expected that the southern states be above normal, and our area has a 50/50 shot at being above or below normal temperatures and precipitation.

I moved back near St. Louis 5 years ago from PA. The last winter I was in Lancaster we still had roses on the bushes on New Year's Day. Not normal.

We haven't had any bad winters around here since I've been back.

Yeah we had relatively warm winters as of late but I do remeber a really cold one about five-6 years ago..how could I forget...froze over the sewer main in the house! Oh was that a joy!

It seemed like every year there was a blizzard sometime during the Farm Show. And then it just kind of stopped happening.

I lived on 3rd & Market in Lemoyne nine years. We could see the fireworks from City Island from my back porch. Both of my sons were born when we lived there.

We moved to Lancaster after my FIL passed away because my MIL couldn't take care of herself. I was there over 15 years.

Went there for a job. But am a farmboy at heart. Actually moving back to the little family farmstead I own in coming weeks. Sans wife. She hates the fact its in my blood and wants nothing to do with it. She will stay at a house in town. Guess Im not worth the "sacrifice"..but that cuts both ways I guess..

And their report based on science didn't agree with this at all. Time will tell.
