Do you want to know one of the sweetest things to experience?

Little Morgan (formerly known as Smokey) just crawled up my shirt, put one paw on each side of my chin, and then covered my chin with kitty kisses. This is the kitten who was the big time attitude, hissy, spitty, swatty one. Now she's just a plump little love bug.

We already had a menagerie and were just there to get food. The little baby was the last one left of her litter. My wife went over to play with her while I was getting the bags and cases of canned food. I had no interest in getting another pet as we had two dogs and 3 cats in the house already. As I was standing in line my wife walked up with the kitten in her arms. Before she could say anything the kitten shot up my arm and perched on my shoulder. She planted her little nose firmly in my ear and started purring. I set everything on the counter and put her on top of the pile and said 'add this one to the bill too'. When we got her home I sat in the lazy boy chair and she came up and gave my entire face a bath. Talk about exfoliation! Anyway, you haven't lived until a baby kitten has given your face a bath.

That would do it, for sure. The face bath was extra insurance. Smart little critter.

She was the most affectionate pet I ever had, even including all the dogs. That's a really high bar. Almost every night for 15 years she purred me to sleep. She liked to guard my beer too.

In 2012, our sons were in San Antonio with their college soccer team from Carthage College in Kenosha WI. One evening, as the team was walking back to their hotel after dinner, they found a very small kitten all alone on a cement footbridge. They looked around for litter mates or mom and found nothing, so they took him back to the hotel.

Long story short - when they could not find a shelter to take him, they passed the hat amongst the team and bought the kitten a ticket and took him back to Kenosha. Based on his weight, he was only about 4 weeks old. He lived off campus with my older son for the next year, and has been with us for the last 7 1/2 years. Said older son moved in with a high school classmate after graduating, and that person was allergic to cats, so Winston moved in with us. I totally adore him.

Last year when I was on a zoom call for work I got 'mugged' by a street cat from the warehouse where I work. My boss paid for his first vet visit so I took him home. He's beat up 10 year old cat with cauliflower ear. He gets along great with our other cats and has the run of the house. I had to take him to our regular vet because all his back teeth were broken. She had to pull all his teeth except for his two bottom fangs. He gets wet food every day and sits up on his hind legs and begs like a dog for people food.

My Little Miss Bitsy Bones comes in every morning starts 'talking'. She was emaciated when we found her as a baby kitten years ago. Now she has a little pot belly and loves her food. She gets so excited when she hears the cans open.
