There was a pause.
"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.
"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."
"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.
"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.
"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.
"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."
And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right."

One of the things that I appreciate the most about DU is that whenever a someone is having a Difficult Day, others are always willing to be here for them.
ETA - I saw this posted on FB & thought about how these kinds of things had been happening here, even recently. I'm not having a Difficult Day myself & I'm sorry for the confusion, but thanks to those that responded that way. Kind of proves the point...

(24,401 posts)There is a ton of wisdom in A.A. Milne's writing. I always hope the parents reading his books to their children are picking it up.

(33,368 posts)...were toddlers, since they taught such marvelous values to children in magnificently simple language.
I believe many of these values soaked into the men they became.
Given that accomplishing this task, writing about important values in simple language that any child can understand, requires great sophistication and skill, the Pooh books can be considered - at least I think so - works of high art.
