The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI now own a "Smart TV..."
And have cable, and Internet.
Still...
95% of the "entertainment" programming is still total shit.
"Comedies" that are just not funny, only cringe-inducing.
"Dramas" that bore me.
Reboots of old TV shows and movies, to make them "grittier."
What do I actually watch?
News to see what the headlines are, then I put on the Weather Channel, and after the forecast I watch old TV shows and movies, or put on a music channel.

(46,318 posts)Bugs the hell out of me to have to pay for shopping channels, religion channels (almost all are right-wing,) and Fox propaganda.

(7,838 posts)Get an antenna and download free tv apps like Tubi, Pluto, Plex, IMDb tv, and more. You still might not have anything to watch but it is all free. Good luck and good hunting.

(182,769 posts)At least its not on all the time. All the major sports are on the networks (antenna here) and ESPN. The basic Sling package has pretty much everything I want.

(115,674 posts)I haven't watched network tv in ages - a little cable news now and then, but mostly I watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu (Hulu is really cheap if you get the basic service with ads). You can also access Youtube and a lot of other Internet-based stuff with your smart tv. But network tv mostly sucks hard enough to bend light.
