The tuxedo cat didn't even seem to care. He must be used to the racoon. n/t brewens Sep 2021 #5

30 thousand in Idaho. I've seen tracks and what look like their beds, but never spotted one. They usually aren't living right here, but we had one around a few years ago too.

I went to be late and my bedroom window is at ground level. This neighbor tuxedo cat was right out there and caught my attention or I would have missed it. I'm looking at the cat and behind him walks a pretty big racoon. It was darker back there and I might not of noticed the racoon otherwise.

Raccoons are hell on cats. They’ll eviscerate one without provocation. I’ve never let my cats go outside at night because of them. Hope the tuxedo cat was okay.

Easily remedied if people would just close the lid on the dumpster.

Raccoon's are very dangerous to try to handle. Even a young one could have jumped up that kind guy's arm, and made mincemeat out of it. We trap them when they start taking our chickens/ducks, and relocate them to the county dump. The whole time, they're trying to get at you through the wire. And they carry rabies.

Than foxes. But who gets hunted? The foxes. Guess it's not sexy to say "I'm going raccoon hunting."

I know foxes, & predators in general, aren't welcomed near chicken & ducks.
