1. I'm old enough to remember when Netflix aired recent theatrical-release films

I have no idea about their current lineup. I made the mistake of watching 12 seconds of some Anime title, and now my entire feed is irretrievably clogged with hundreds of "suggested for you" Anime titles.

If Seinfeld ever shows up on my screen, it'll probably feature him being violated by tentacles and piloting a robot.

3. I was searching for a movie on Netflix yesterday and clicked on "Sex and the City 2."

It wasn't just bad, it was shockingly offensive. My mouth literally fell open at times. Was as if it was a parody but somehow nobody making the film noticed.

A celebration of conspicuous consumption, a movie-long ad for luxury goods, Vogue magazine come to life (but only the most hideous unflattering outfits -- makes Melania Trump look like the height of good taste in comparison). There was an attempt at a feminist message but it didn't make any sense. Something to do with designer clothes, accessories, cocktails and saying you're a strong woman while whining about how hard childrearing is even with a full-time nanny, how your glamorous celebrity author New York life living in a fabulous penthouse is terrible because your husband likes to stay home and watch old movies on TV instead of going out and being the old couple at the bar. And the other one just needs to have sex with everyone all the time but is going through menopause so has to eat a lot of yams. Who wrote this stuff? Fascinating.

Also a commercial for Abu Dhabi: shining skyscrapers, limousines, private jets, $22,000 a night hotel rooms, servants granting your every wish. Embarrassingly obnoxious Ugly American behavior on the part of these supposedly sophisticated New Yorkers. I couldn't help but wonder, was I the only one watching this who began thinking that "Death to America" wasn't such a bad slogan after all?

Going back today to watch the rest of it to the bitter end. I always go down with the ship.

4. Sex in the City 2 is an active hate crime.

You can now join the rest of us when we read yet another of the endless articles about the upcoming attempts at Sex in the City 3 wondering why in god's name why?

I didn't watch the series until after the first movie when it was in the news. Not a fan. Don't get it. Maybe because I'm old. I loved Charlie's Angels in the seventies when I was young because they beat up bad men. Women beating up men is thrilling to me. Women obsessing about sex isn't.
