But Mrs K , what she grew up with and how music changed America. She is in her 60s now and a bit of dementia going on. Now she is sharing stories of what she grew up in. From big band music, (Charlie Goodwin )to she just knew Elvis when he was in Bristol tn. I know all her life, I wasnt there, of course. Mrs K thinks today she is nothing. Omg DU!, Im telling her. You LIVEDhow America heard music, and when youre gone, there are no videos or anything else it leaves with you Hughleb. You heard me sing and play, none of that matters. My wife wont tell her story. Ill lose her I know. But her story and her life needs to be heard

(11,447 posts)Told second-hand through a narrator still is an awesome approach to story telling.

(34,120 posts)I tried to set up a hidden camera, not only to record his stories but to monitor his caretakers. Unfortunately, one of the caretakers found it and turned it off and hid the camera. I found it after Mom died, four years later, but the video files seem to be corrupted.
I guess maybe keep notes after she tells her stories.

(34,060 posts)Do you have an easy way to record her? Your phone maybe and then transfer it to a permanent place so you can go through it all? I bet that is fascinating although very sad to watch happen to someone you love.
EDIT to add, of course I was not the only person who thought of that, just very late to the thread!! I so hope you can get a lot of it down somehow.
