Does anyone get the NFL red zone package for the games?.....I think they just keep going from game to game showing all big plays and TD's...Just wondering if anyone gets Redzone & if they like / dislike it?.........Thx

(9,965 posts)It's honestly the way we prefer NFL. No commercials after every play or TD, no endless replays. Fun to watch and you can keep up with all the games.

(21,945 posts)I guess it was a freebie as part of some cable package I used to have. Anyway -- I thought it was great.
It can be a bit much, I mean it's basically seven straight hours of constant football action with no breaks. And there is a little downside, in that you lose the kind of momentum that you get when watching a single game. A single game has lots of stops and breaks, but if it's a good game you get a sense of progression through the whole thing, which can obviously make the final few minutes very exciting. That tends to be lost with Red Zone because you're skipping between games all the time. (You do get some of it back in the late games, because there are fewer of them to skip between).
But if you do Fantasy Football it's kind of a no-brainer. Fantasy Football + Redzone works very well indeed.

(182,772 posts)Yes when I was playing fantasy football Red Zone was a must. It does take away from the nuance of games.
Im on Sling now so I dont know if they tease on the unplugged channels. When we had cable it was free the first week.

(3,165 posts)doing 3 leagues this year.....Last couple years, I would just leave regular NFL Network on all day, they show plenty of highlights, but also tons of commercials....

(21,945 posts)especially with 3 teams you would definitely enjoy Redzone. Better than NFL Network imo.
Just be aware that you may not move from in front of the TV for seven hours.

(1,879 posts)If there's no particular game interesting you it's as good as anything to have on.
Of course I remember the good old days when they ran scores of other games once every quarter.

(3,165 posts)(and this would apply more to MLB & NBA games), but there was a TOLL line you could call to get scores of the late night west coast games.....There was no internet, and ESPN was only sports network around.....

(1,879 posts)Espn used to have a 28/58 update when thy'd scroll scores then it would disappear for another half hour.
