I'm trying to fix the programming on a friend's Roku player - an old 2500x. Her internet is so slow it can stream but adding and updating new apps is like hand to hand combat.
Instead of moving half her living room around to dig out the power cord, I used my adapter kit to get the cord for my laptop to fit the Roku.
Instant sparks and that burn electronic smell and I yanked the cord out fast.
The Roku needs a 5V power cord. The one for my laptop says 95W and upon closer inspection says to outputs at 19V. I'm guessing I just fried the heck out of my friend's Roku.
For the techies who understand volts and watts and stuff I am obviously too ignorant to understand .... any chance whatsoever this thing might have survived or should I just give up and go buy her a new one?

I mean you could always TRY it on the original adapter and see if it turns on still but the odds are ... slim at best.
