A stuffed mouse. These are my last few days with this handsome young guy. I can already feel my heart starting to break. It's been amazing to watch him transform from that tiny, quivering little black squeaker to this energetic rascal who can now hold his own against his larger siblings. I'll miss his morning snuggles and kitten kisses. He is one truly good natured sweetheart of a kitten. I have no doubt he will bring his new mom years of fun, joy and love.

(3,055 posts)I could never foster...I'd never be able to give them up. Are you keeping any of them?

(13,462 posts)I get attached to the wild animals that come to my backyard-minus skunks. Just think I would be a foster failure-couldnt let the kittens go.

Sophie has had a rough time with the 4 of them being here but I am hopeful she can adjust to 2. The friend who is taking Squeaky MIGHT take one of the sisters. I'm hoping she hasn't changed her mind. Taking 2 is the idea things - they will have each other for companionship.

(1,198 posts)and they have kept each other company for four years now. They are clearly attached, they groom each other and chase each other -- and I think it's wonderful to keep them together.

(6,926 posts)It will save your skin, they have each other for wrestling and clawing. Teach that person that.

I love this picture!! He is so engrossed in his prey. I haven't seen this much satisfaction in a while!

(26,249 posts)No doubt I'll learn the name, this weekend.
I kind of 'labeled' them all when I first found them, using some characteristic - Squeaky, Smokey and Sootie. The exception was Madoc who we thought was female so I named Maggie. I KNEW I was going to keep this kitten because of the, at the time, sad expression on its face. Now his face has come into its own and he's a handsome little guy. And he got a strong Welsh name.
Since I know I will be keeping at least ONE of the sisters, I gave them 'official' new names - Morgan and Gwenllian.

(26,249 posts)Squeaky got his name because, despite his small size, he was the loudest vocalizer. Loud and persistent. He was so much smaller than his sisters and even smaller than Madoc so maybe that was his way of being noticed. Even though he's still the smallest, he's not nearly as squeaky, now. I think he knows I have a soft spot, in my heart, for him.
The funny thing is, a couple of them will open their mouths, as if they are going to meow, but they don't really make a sound. Maybe that's a residual feral protective type behavior. But FOOD TIME? All bets and silencers are off.
