Hell of a night vomiting etc....My Walmart had bad freezers I suspect food poisoning

What a night I'm glad to be feeling better.

I'm asking the boards opinion. The last thing I ate 2 hours before was a frozen dinner. My WalMart has had poor chilling and the frozen foods are sometimes not "solid" feeling when I purchased them. I have about 8 of them & I can't afford to just toss them. So I have to take them back and return them if I want to be safe & not loose my food allowance(fixed income).

It may have been something else but last night was absolute hell.

No stomach flu reported locally- so should I go through the hassle or just hope for the best.

If the dinners are bad, they can wait. Rule out Covid first.

But the fact that you have no other symptoms is good. Hope you continue to feel better.

Walmart will probably give you credit for the unused meals. They will probably appreciate knowing that you had this problem. Good luck!

Just me; I would take back the still-frozen but not-opened items (from WalMart) as soon as possible, being certain they were nearly solid upon return. Also, I would hope to get a store credit and NOT-NOT-NOT a replacement of poor product.

got them, but I picked up some simple frozen dinners. ... but I recall one not feeling solid, but I though it was OK. During the night I got super sick and all, just horribly sick. I was out of work the next day. It all cleared up and never happened again.

No sense taking a chance on getting sick again.

I would not eat those dinners, no way.

8. With suspected food poisoning, I'd carefully review symptoms against suspects

Specific pathogens have specific symptoms. If vomiting was the first and foremost symptom, and any gastro involvement was light or absent, I would suspect staph aureus. I had it, the body detects it quickly - 2-4 hours - and the vomiting is involuntary, you just can't stop it until it's out.

If you suspect staph aureus, return the food because "Staph bacteria are killed by cooking, but the toxins are not destroyed and will still be able to cause illness."

Are they still locking in their store cleaners at night and endangering their lives in case there's a fire?

Walmart, with the multi-billionaire sibling owners notoriously living decadently but scheduling workers so they don't quite get enough hours to qualify for benefits. And also underpaying them so they qualify for SNAP benefits...and counseling them how, meaning the government is subsidizing their workers.

We can do better than Walmart.

Try Costco, they pay their workers a decent wage.

in some locations, that and a dollar store is all there is. poster might let local health dept. know about the freezer issue. or even store management and/or corporate HQ if they haven't already. sometimes errors are just errors.

The freezers have issues on hot days & they had to clear product from the ice cream section in the last 2 heat waves. The frozen food section all had a less than firm feel on those days.

I'm going to attempt contacting the health dept. 1st. If it is the problem it is a big problem. I do need to get my $ back also.

But more than anything I need some rest-thanks all.

Albertsons had a bunch of frozen foods that had thawed and been refrozen in a discount bin. I got sick for days from a pot pie. Over five days I lost about 20% of my body weight in fluids and ended up on IV.

Definitely drink lots of fluids and if it persists go see a doctor.

I also agree that you should take the other frozen dinners back and try to get reimbursed. Good luck. I know you must feel miserable today.
