What load of crap. I don't mind the cencus-Except I just did one 8 months ago .
And this one is super nosey.
Main problem I had was what ethnicity repeated over & over. I never answered that for anyone-none of their damn business. I actually wrote in F-U as ethnicity just to get past it.
Seems like a lot of data mining & little else. Google says it is legit & mandatory. I have my doubts.
Edit to clarify.
There is a law against discrimination based on race or ethnicity. Any survey to asses ethnicity or race is therefore invalid-any use of that information would be against the law. To make rules or any decision based on race etc.. is discriminatory PERIOD.

(86,506 posts)I wouldn't answer it if it's some online thing. Sounds fishy, especially if it keeps asking for ethnicity. Doesn't sound right.

(43,049 posts)I never saw anyone punished for not completing it. They just keep bugging you until the end of the month.
And it's not nearly as intrusive as some others they do. However, it is true that personal information is never divulged. The IRS and FBI sued to get personal info and were shut down. Employees are advised of a possible $250K fine and prison if they leak info.
It is not necessary to answer every question to get them off your back. I would not suggest lying about anything, though, even though they have no way to tell.
As far as what they use the data for-- where do you think all those numbers on the news come from?
