The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI don't like the new "music" on Jeopardy (CORRECTION: on Wheel of Fortune!)
I don't understand why they thought they needed to change it.
Edit: I meant on Wheel of Fortune. I've had a long week already.

(8,445 posts)It's not that big of a deal, and I'll get used to it, but they should have saved their time and money and left it the same. IMO, of course.
(First world problem, I know.)

(1,962 posts)The new music is great compared to the "new host"....
At least Johnny Cab will be gone after 3 more episodes.
Rorey
(8,445 posts)He only recorded for one day, I think, so we should be rid of him soon.
IngridsLittleAngel
(1,962 posts)One taping day, 5 episodes... So 2 down, 3 to go.
5 too many, but, still.. Salvation is on its way.
LisaM
(27,794 posts)Yes, he has to go, but Jeopardy needs a host who lets.the contestants and material shine, not some overly-mugging, camera-hog celebrity.
Now, Matt Amodio needs to go. .I forgot how annoying he was. He was even worse than usual last night, counting out the syllables in that one category on his fingers.
Rorey
(8,445 posts)I'm trying to like him. He's probably going to be on for a long time. He's apparently got one of those brains that retains everything.
IngridsLittleAngel
(1,962 posts)I mean, his hosting style was okay... But not worth the bigotry and baggage. It's not like we were seeing the second coming of Bill Cullen or Tom Kennedy or... Alex. Just an okay glory-seeking host. So not worth all the baggage he came with.
Sony blew it. And only 3 more episodes to endure.
Rorey
(8,445 posts)Hopefully he really did learn that his behavior wasn't acceptable.
IngridsLittleAngel
(1,962 posts)"I'm sorry for being a distraction"... Maybe one step above "I'm sorry you were offended." In other words, a total Qepublican apology.

(10,199 posts)His original episodes aired before I heard about any of the stuff that ultimately brought him down. I thought he had negative charisma and an empathy deficit. During the contestant interviews, his demeanor was totally bored, edging on downright rude.
LisaM
(27,794 posts)That was a big fail. It's like when chefs have celebrities on cooking shows. They never finish cooking the dish because they ball wink and joke and turn the attention on themselves (Charles Grodin did a brilliant send up of that on talk shows).
So perhaps it's damning with faint praise, but I really did prefer his style and pacing.
Now we'll be stuck with Mayim and her knowing chortle for weeks.
I still stand by my original choice - Ted Allen from 'Chopped'. Affable, smart, doesn't overshadow the contestants, and I owe how to host.

(10,199 posts)Personally, I liked Aaron Rodgers the best of all the guest hosts. I'm not a big football fan, so I knew very little about him before his guest stint.
LisaM
(27,794 posts)And Mayim Bialik is an anti-vaxxer. I mean, if we are going to judge hosts on things not related to Jeopardy!
LisaM
(27,794 posts)It's not that it changed, it seemed bland.

(8,445 posts)(And, yeah, I meant Wheel of Fortune. )
There were a few changes at the Jeopardy opening, but Wheel sounded goofy.

(10,885 posts)The middle contestant gets lost amidst the colorful background. Those on either end fare better.
