Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGot my first facial wrinkle today. I'm not happy.
I'll turn 63 in a few weeks, and I've remained wrinkle-less until now.
I looked in the mirror this morning, and in one day, a deep fucking wrinkle sprouted from the corner of my lip, ran down my chin, took a left, then headed north. It looks like a goddamn fish hook.
I'm growing my beard back. I can't go around looking like this.
I mean it's OK now because I'm wearing a mask, but when the pandemic ends, I can't be having people refer to me as "ol' fishlips".

I did have the advantage of several decades of smoking, and the Southern sun, but I started looking like a prune in my 50s

(17,425 posts)but you can see this thing from a mile away. I kept looking at it because I didn't know what it was. I thought I had some kind of medical problem.

(4,392 posts)shop for a hyaluronic acid serum that fits your budget and requirements; gentle cleansing with soap and water; the HA serum applied next will plump up the exfoliated surfaces of the skin with assisted moisture retention that will help better hide aging wrinkles. A vitamin C serum is also useful for any brightening; next, your moisturizer with a non-toxic sunscreen year-round and other vitamins A, Bs, and E on top of this to further nurture a youthful appearance. Your local cosmetic plastic surgeon can help with various dermal fillers, chemical peels, cosmetic surgery if and when you're ready and your budget allows. Dermal fillers effect is temporary, but can be on a schedule as unique as the condition of your skin requires; my boss preferred fat transfers back then as the longest lasting. Aestheticians can also suggest products and services to keep your skin at its peak appearance at all ages. Smile more to keep facial muscles strong (note: gravity is not a face's friend and leads to sagging in the fat and follicle layer beneath the surface. Repetition of facial muscle contractions as you speak and gesture effect deep wrinkles eventually. Don't ever smoke or vape (dangerous chemicals/dirt); wear a brimmed cap, and keep out of the sun which dries and oozes radiation that is unkind to your skin; never use a tanning bed. If as you said you have good genes, you'll retain your beautiful skin for many more years with or without a well-groomed beard.

(25,316 posts)Wrinkles generally require some sort of physical treatment such as botox, fillers or surgery.
Fine lines will respond to serums.

(63,221 posts)I think it's my low stress life-style plus good genes. My parents are very young looking in their late 70's/early 80's. I am considering using retinols though just to keep things that way. I also avoid sun exposure which helps.
