Damn we're old.
This is insane, everyone knows that the 80's were only 20 years ago, the 90's 10 years ago, Y2K wasn't even a thing but that was maybe 5 years ago...

(33,643 posts)They came out very shortly after I graduated college.
The two discs trimmed to their best 72 minutes and put onto one CD, it would've been a KILLER album.
As released, there's some filler and over-indulgently long tracks.
See: both tracks in the OP ... each being a good 20% longer than they have any business being, IMHO

(66,093 posts)I think they were all worthy of a better singer, though.
The best description I ever heard of Axl Rose's voice was, well, my own, actually. When I first heard him sing, I remember saying "Sounds like a bobcat being strangled with barbed wire..."

(33,643 posts)Locomotive is a pretty badass track too. Also too long, but badass.
I had the same issue with those two discs as I had with Mellon Collie's 2 discs.
Overall overly indulgent, and I didn't like the singers voice.
Which is odd because I liked Billy just fine on Gish and Siamese Dream, and I liked Axl okay on Appetite/Lies.
Something about how their voices are different on these two double albums vs. their albums before ... that bugs me.
