Boomer-Era America.
The Addamses were unconventional-looking and did weird things, which meant they didn't conform to the expectations of the neighbors.
But in actuality, they were everything Boomer-Era America insisted was desirable; they loved one another very much, they supported one another, they were generous to a fault, optimistic, cheerful, and deeply moral.
