Boxcar Willie.
Amazing life, the guy was a USAF Master Sargeant on a B-29 during Korea, retired from the Air Force in 1976!
Brought a lot of smiles to a lot of folks.

(19,544 posts)11. True fact
During the Vietnam war, I used to tune across the analog UHF on my t.v. (about 1968 - 69) and would sometimes hear military aircraft transmitting.
No clue where they were. (This was in between assigned t.v. station frequencies.)
To an 11 year old, this was the coolest thing in the world.

I would not highlight him singing Hank Williams songs.
In my personal opinion I believe there are better selections of his singing on YouTube.
But hey, that is my opinion.

Mom and dad loved to see him there.
If I read correctly, he owned a theater there.
Thanks for sharing the memory!
