Uncontrollable vomiting due to marijuana use on rise, study finds...Anyone experienced this?

[link:https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/17/health/marijuana-vomiting-wellness/index.html|

I am again a regular user and have just got over very bad 9 month bout/flair of serve IBS (lost 60lbs). I did cut out all pot on day one so was free for 9 months. A month after quitting I did two trips to the emergency room last fall. The low FOBMAP elimination diet cleared it up with me but was curious if anyone had heard or come across this.

pot smokers have a heads up. Though Cannabis has anti-emetic properties, for unknown reasons, it can cause gastro problem leading to a serious complication, dehydration, for one. Drastic weight loss in your case and I’d imagine the whole syndrome to be distressing.

I don’t thankfully and I do not think I had this. I had every test and procedure but nothing was “remarkable” so into the IBS bag you go.

I have always felt it had a smoothing gastric effect and was surprised to see the opposite as an issue with some folks.

Never touched the stuff again.

Later I read that this is a rare reaction to mj. And I am someone who is allergic to stuff so I was not surprised.

breaking some bones and surgery to repair.

I declined. Even though I would have much preferred mj to opiates.

So yes I am really glad I know to avoid mj and won't even use the cream like all my friends are doing.

We don’t know what variety the offending pot was, only that it was very high octane.

only cure is abstinence. there are a couple of facebook support groups and some research has begun but it was only first described about 6 years ago. ER docs sometimes know what it is, but many in health care have no idea. can lead to a lot of testing that is not actually needed, especially if one has the classic version of constant vomiting, pain, and hot showers being about the only relief. anti-nausea and anti-emitic drugs don't work.

In other words are you getting it from a source and not know how it's grown? Some chemical pesticides or fertilizers might be causing the problem.

If you're growing your own, then you know what fertilizer was used, hopefully you didn't need any pesticides.

I didn't use it often, my issue was alcohol and I've been sober for 12 1/2 years, but the last time I tried smoking, I had a bad reaction, vomiting and extreme dizziness, and I am not prone to vomiting. I have never considered trying it again since.
