I thought the people were smart. I mean, it’s not like Flipper can speak English, but they always understood what Flipper was saying.

I felt the same about Lassie. “What’s that Lassie, Timmy fell and broke his leg? Take us to him.” They got all that from a couple barks.

but one time I laughed and asked coworkers how a dolphin could "solve crimes" and they all emphatically insisted that is just what Flipper did.

1968 at the Miami Seaquarium:



Dad took us to Miami and the Keys for vacation that summer. The Seaquarium was my least favorite part. Miami was not my idea of a vacation spot, either. I wanted to stay home and go horseback riding.
