Anyone have any experience with this? Hope to drive up in RV for a week with dog.
Thanks!

KAMOURASKA, Quebec (AP) When the pandemic descended, the boundless vistas and insane sunsets of Kamouraska became a distant, unattainable dream for this bicyclist from Virginia. This is one of Quebecs most beautiful places and, for me, a yearly touchstone I could no longer touch.
It finally came within reach. On Aug. 9, the day Canada conditionally reopened the border to U.S. tourists, my car with the bicycle was packed and ready to go. But I wasnt. I had put off the required coronavirus test too late to be sure I would have the results in time.
On Labor Day, my documents now complete, I drove north, breezed across the border and was soon cycling in a tapestry of storybook villages, canola fields and hedgerows of wild roses along the broad expanse of the St. Lawrence River.
Americans wanting to experience Canadas vibrant autumn or its winter landscapes can do so again. But getting here means jumping through hoops before you go. And being here means adapting to hypervigilance against the virus. Canada doesnt mess around with COVID-19 and isnt suffering from it like people in many parts of the U.S. are now.
Quite a bit more at link.

(24,587 posts)Yes, I've looked into taking a PCR (required format) test within 72 hours of heading up there. The turnaround for results is about 72 hours, too, so, it's a close call. I'm also reading on the government site that they want travelers to have a quarantine plan! Don't know if this is current.
I will read the link. Thanks!!

(1,279 posts)Its easy if youre vaccinated and Covid free.
You must download the ArriveCAN app.
You must upload an image of your Covid vaccination card showing the dates of both, and the type of vaccine. (They dont accept the Russian one, for instance. Pfizer, Moderna, J&J ok. Only one dose of J&J required)
You must have a Covid mRNA test within 72 hours of the crossing and the results of that test must be uploaded to the ArriveCAN app.
Photo images acceptable for both vaccine card and test, but the app really likes the California QR code.
At the border they look up your ArriveCAN file, then check your card to make sure its not obviously fake.
We entered through Washington and found that all of the UW medical system free test sites return results in 48 hours or less.
Very little waiting at the border. The line moved about as quickly as normal and the normal amount of cars and RVs were getting pulled over for the random secondary customs check.
I think the average Canadian is a little pissed that the US wont let them in, but theyll let us in, even though we have a worse vaccination rate and no good vaccination passport system. They do.
In British Columbia, at least, you have to show your Covid vaccination card to get into restaurants. Servers there have an app that looks at the QR code/vaccination record on Canadian residents smart phones. Its a great system that the Covidiots wont let us have.

(24,587 posts)this is what we are finding, too. We don't know how long results will take, so we may need to hover on this side for a day or so. We are staying open. Likely cross at Colville or Oroville!
Thank you!
