What is the greatest number of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, made on hamburger and hot dog rolls (because that was the only bread in the house), laid out on a big tin Christmas cookie serving tray. have you shoved into your piehole, due to a raging case of the munchies?

(11,631 posts)Friday we were poured on twice by some lake shit out of nowhere .. they had to keep stopping seemed to make it hard to hit the long jams. Headed out to LA over halloween to see 3 tour closing shows at the Hollywood bowl.

(16,063 posts)He is touring again. Phil was the Dead.

(11,631 posts)But the vocals are horrible almost always. I like Mayers blues style doing the dead jams as well. The dark stars have been long and pretty jazzy this tour although they played it in indy right before the shows we saw in chicago so i knew we wouldnt get that.

(17,425 posts)Music starts at about 3:00.
I've been listening to this the past few nights.

(11,631 posts)Thats pretty sweet. Phil knows how to jam still at 80+. I especially like the p&f iterations from early 2000s with warren haynes. I follow Billy Strings a lot as well. He does a lot of dead jams in bluegrass style very talented.

(17,425 posts)Once with Warren Haynes, and again with Robben Ford and former Little Feat members Billy Payne and Paul Barrere.
I also follow Billy Strings...I love the guy. He's the real deal. I have a good friend who had the opportunity to speak to him for a few moments.
You have supreme musical tastes, jcgoldie!

(11,631 posts)Do you go to archive.org? You can find tons of those phil shows along with 100s soundboards of the dead from every era. Thats where I download all my shows then blast them out to the barn when I'm working on the farm. You can almost see goats dead dancing.

(17,425 posts)"Heady Versions" of basically every Grateful dead song ever played as ranked by archive users.
Go to the site, click on a song, and versions of that song will be ranked. Pick a version, then click "listen on archive".
Also, if you have an android phone (there is probably an iOS version for Apple also), there is a mobile app called "Deadhead Archives".
I'm refinishing my dining room set in my garage, and I pick an archive show on my phone, and stream it through a high quality bluetooth speaker while I am working in the garage. Been listening to a lot of 1974 shows. Also, check out Rotterdam 1972. I think the date is 5/11 or thereabouts.
Dancing goats! That's great!
One more thing, check out a European band called "CAN".

(11,631 posts)Interesting aside about Billy Strings... my wife goes out to Arizona once a year in January to ride horses in the desert with my rich retired snowbird aunt and uncle while I stay back in frigid Illinois and feed round bales to all their cattle with the tractor all winter. They are conservative rich assholes who I have zero in common with aside from farm background. Culturally all that dude likes to do is jackoff to old john wayne movies and read louis lamour westerns ride his horse and shoot his gun. My wife texted me that he was out there listening to bluegrass so I told her hey tell him to check out some Billy. That fucker put him on pandora then got all his albums and listens to him all the time. I wouldnt in a million years think there was music let alone anything culturally that could bridge the divide between us and those Trumpers... but Billy Strings is it!
