It was diverse but not as even as I first thought.
Seems around 2:2:1, white, Hispanic, black.
There were 2 kids in the group (6,7,8) that had to have the quiz in Spanish, and there were probably a dozen that were bilingual.
Behavior is impressive, as is the strictness of their COVID precautions. I saw ZERO kids that came in the room with their mask down. And, all day, only 3 had it slip below their nose. Pointed at them, touched my own nose, and boom, mask back up.
School is super clean & staff is friendly.
The funny part was watching that principal (I confirmed that he's 7'1" interact with the kindergartners & first graders.
That young group: I didn't see one that was taller than his hip joint. And, half of them could walk between his legs without ducking!
So, this giant of a man, bending down to talk with a kid 33" tall was funny, but charming. I kept thinking he's going to have a bad back by 50, just from having to bend that far to communicate.
I accepted 2 other days there because I was impressed. And, it took 21 minutes to get home. Not bad at all.

(6,268 posts)It must be such a relief to see the covid protocols being taken so seriously.
And I can't imagine how huge the principal must seem to the little ones.

(64,413 posts)...pretty rigorous in all 14 of the other schools I go to.
But, this one is even more so.
The wipe down of desks is done by the aide passing out wipes, & the kids do the desk & seats before they leave. I didn't see a single kid doing a halfhearted job.
Pretty good!
