I once did that with a local goat who had his head stuck in a fence for hours. After I freed him he danced around in the field for joy and came back to the fence to nuzzle me and thank me for freeing him.

Pretty much turned me into a vegetarian when I realized how "human" our "meat animals" are. They express fear and gratitude just like us.
