The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSqueaky and Gwenllian are on their way to Chicago, with new names.
Squeaky is now named Cinder and Gwenllian has been given her sister's original name of Smokey. I already miss them but think this will probably really hit me, tomorrow when bring the kittens down for their breakfast. No need for a carrier to bring them all down, and just two bowls of food to prepare.
Here are the last photos I took of them and I anxiously await new ones from their new mom.

(22,477 posts)there are still a bunch of kitties that need fostering. I'm sure you could get your name on the Animal services or Humane Society near you for when kitten season comes again and if it is anything like here there are plenty of little kitties to help until they become big enough to adopt out.

(23,973 posts)The names are perfect for their coat colors.
Our Tuxie female, named Chessie, had the shelter name Penny - same as my husbands nasty ex-wife. No way we were keeping THAT name. She is on husband #4.

(26,259 posts)Ummm, nice names but they just didn't fit the looks I saw in their eyes. Boud was a tortie so I can see the name applying to her coloring but torties were sacred to ancient Celtic Britons, thus the change from Autumn to Boudicca. And Sophie Stinky Toes, the tuxie? I still have no explanation for how I came up with that name. Her toes seem perfectly normal.

(6,793 posts)In honor of both, I shall call them Squeaky Cinder and Smoky Gwen. Thanks for sharing all of their precious moments with us. 🥰

(26,259 posts)It's funny because my friend wasn't sure which girl she would take but THOUGHT it was Morgan, formerly Smokey. BUT Gwen was a much better sweet and playful temperament match with Squeaky. Morgan and Madoc are pretty playful and feisty. I also noticed that was how they paired up, more often than not.
Anyway, Smokey went along with her naming 'theme' so the name transitioned to Gwenllian. I almost thought about renaming Morgan to Gwenllian but the names Morgan and Madoc just so smoothly go together.
