I never heard of them, and it is a nerve-wracking sound.

(115,673 posts)Can you imagine a whole stadium full of those?
I don't think Aztecs rode horses, but the last part of the video sounds like Hell unleashed. And I can't imagine taking something like that to a fun event :/

(14,708 posts)It's amazing what people have uploaded.
It just finished. Good detail, but it is small (about the size of your fist), and the pitch seems high (but the cats hate it, so it must be close ).
I'm printing it much bigger; about the size of a real skull. That should lower the pitch. Ir won't be done for about 15 hours though.

(14,708 posts)What a painstaking effort. I can never look at a parts drawing and not recall the work it took to do just one part by hand.
Now it's all done in sw.
And what is amazing is all the sw I use to design and print is free. Even fusion 360 from auto desk has a personal use license free of charge. You don't get all the features, but you get what you need for 3d print design.

My younger brother took drafting after high school and had a good job in Colorado. He left it for auto mechanics and did well in that too.

(14,708 posts)Sw is short for software.
Fusion 360 is an advanced cad / cam software package from auto desk. There are other cad packages that are free, but I prefer fusion.
Other software is used to slice designs (prepare them for printing), create artwork, and manipulate images. You can even get free sw packages that will convert a series of digital photographs of an object into a 3d design file that can be printed or used in animations.

(16,935 posts)I feel like I've gotten an update on drafting and CAD, After I got my cert., I got a job in admissions at a beauty college and later got jobs in computer operations. I owe those to learning so much about using computers when the instructor was trying to teach us about CAD. Is the whistle complete?

(115,673 posts)I might buy one for Halloween, and just sit on the porch and blow it to keep the kids away so I don't have to buy candy.
