Last night I was a bit irritated because I was tired and wanted to sleep, but the music from the Chile & Frijoles Festival was SO LOUD that I could hear it all the way at my house. I looked on the Festival website and saw that it was going to be over at midnight, so I figured I'd just have to endure.
So I went ahead and went to bed, hoping I'd be able to shut it out, and then it suddenly stopped at around 10:45.
Now I know why.

(8,445 posts)The Chile & Frijoles Festival is a very big deal here. I didn't notice it at all on Friday night, but last night I'm sure they were breaking the rules with volume. But it's one weekend out of the year, so I knew I'd just have to tolerate it. No sense in being a Karen about it.
I hope the guy who was shot is okay. I guess we'll hear more about motivation in the coming days, but my first guess is that it was gang related.

(8,445 posts)That noise sure did carry last night. My house is miles away from where this took place.

The festival is a celebration of the harvest of the chilies, and that's pretty cool. It's part of who we are in my city.
I was glad that I was able to get some sleep, but it was sad to see why the music stopped. I feel like shootings and murders here are higher than usual in my city this past year, but I don't really know the statistics on that.
