On the futility of watching movies.

So I did some research and found out that there are in the neighborhood of 1,600 English-language feature length movies released every year in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. So if I allocated 2 hours to watching one of those movies (to allow time for eating and bathroom breaks) it would require 3,200 hours per year just to stay caught up with current movies. That's 8.8 hours per day. In other words, if I spend less than 9 hours a day watching movies I am falling further and further behind. And even if I did spend 9 hours a day, that would leave no time for movies that have already been made like Cassablanca, The African Queen, and Duck Soup. It's hopeless !!!!

Well, I have to sign off now and go watch 4 or 5 movies before dinner time.

Anything rated less than 80% should save you tons of viewing time!

I select a few old favorites, and a few from the past I've never seen, each year.

That could explain why I dress like a medieval samurai and call everyone shweetheart between drinks.

... then got sidetracked by watching 6 or 8 that weren't even on my list.

And then, to make matters worse, I watched the first episode of The Flight Attendant, and that new addiction will end up costing me days and days of movie watching time.

I'm all for lists, but adhering to them without deviation and to shut off spontaneity robs you.

I hope you'll revel on the path!

I'd profusely thank you but sorry I don't have time now. I gotta get glued to the tube now. So many movies, so little time!

I'm not a fluent speaker of Spanish but I am a fluent listener and reader, if that makes sense.

So if you only try to watch the good 10% of the new movies, that leaves lots of time to watch the old movies worth watching!

Problem solved.
