4000' straight up will be a lot on ladders since every step up takes a lot of energy. I expect they'll pace themselves but if they're not aerobically fit it will be a challenge!

on the rest platforms to help them. Those rescue people are incredible and psychologically strong it a crisis. The miners will be emotionally and physically elevated. 1 worked at a tea house in the mountains whose elevation was 1300 feet. Took me 1.5 hours on a switchback to get there. Hopefully these miners have some aerobic fitness from their job.
