I was told I might have a reaction, but I brushed off the thought because it was so easy with the first shot. But that was over a year ago and I"m a year older. It's kicked my butt today. All I want to do is sleep...old age sucks some times...

(4,935 posts)I had 2nd shot in July but had very little reaction. A sore arm for a few days and 1 day of tiredness. Seems that is my reaction to almost all vaccines I get. Even the tetanus shot is not a big deal.

(4,935 posts)to the 2nd shot. 1st one seems to be OK but the 2nd can knock you out for a few days.
Hope you're back to 100% soon. This is much better than getting Shingles.
I had a good friend that had the worst case I've ever heard of...Had it on this head and in one eye. Believe me, you DON"T want to go through that.

(47,044 posts)A friend of mine got such a bad case that her pain was unbearable.
She is an upbeat, happy person, but for the first time in her life thought of suicide as the only way out of the pain.
Luckily she hung in there and is fine now.
But what an ordeal for her.

(63,912 posts)Years ago I had Shingles and I have lingering nerve pain today. I take meds for it but it puts weight
on me and I had to buy a lot of larger sized clothes. That's discouraging.

(11,686 posts)My second only had a sore arm for 2 days.
I got these just before our COVID quarantine. Are we supposed to get them yearly or is once enough?

I think I had mine 3 months apart.

(65,013 posts)I got it last year.
Nothing either time.
Haven't gotten mine, yet. Just got flu shot either yesterday or Sunday.
Maybe next week for shingles shot.
Get well, soon.

(205,320 posts)I got mine last year and don't recall having a reaction. I got it after I talked to a woman who had experienced Shingles. And I thought that the two shots had to be given within six months of each other - that's what I was told. And I was worried since Covid hit after I'd gotten my first shot and they weren't giving shots for quite awhile, just got my second shot in within the six month window..

(63,912 posts)I "gave up" too soon! I feel just fine!
I will call my pharmacy about when I can get the Covid booster. My two shots were done by the end of February so as soon as I can get it I will. The Covid shots themselves were light as fairy dust. I didn't even feel the needle and I'm a big coward about needles.
Now I have to see when I can get my yearly flu shot.

This raises doubts in my mind that I got the earlier Shingles shot. Maybe I didn't and I just think I did.

He is back to normal now.
I got the shingles vax and had flu symptoms for a day or two after each shot. I have more of a reaction to shingles vax than pfizer vax.
It was soooo worth it compared to how nasty shingles can be.

(22,252 posts)back then it was one and done.
Then this new one came out and I have to get those. They apparently are a much better vax.
I also need to get the newer Pneumonia vax.
I had my booster Pfizer on Monday and except for a sore arm I had no issues at all.
Flu shot next, then shingles and pneumonia.
