I've never actually been in one but my daughter has. The first one she saw really freaked her out. She was driving and it got really dark, really fast. Those things are definitely strange

(16,975 posts)We visited a former exchange student in Sao Paulo in 1997. They had a view like this from their upper deck. They also took us to the top of the tallest building in Sao Paulo at the time, and no matter which direction you looked, the city stretched out of sight.

(22,264 posts)call monsoons. I guess the leading edge of the front picks up dirt and sand as it moves along.
I think the AZ ones pick up the very dry loose dirt, and probably some sand as well.

(14,118 posts)made it necessary to stop and clean off my windshield so I could see to drive my
18-wheeler since the sand sticks to any wet surface. And sand is everywhere!

(16,975 posts)The exchange student we had said the weather was boring there. Not too hot, not too cold, too dry or too wet. She knew about tornadoes, earthquakes, and other disasterous events, but said they didn't have them in Brazil. The times they are a changin'.
