Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWhat a crazy week! Our cook stove ovens keep dying, so we finally gave in and ordered
a new one that was set to come this past Wednesday, so Tuesday we marinated a chicken to christen it with. Tim takes Wednesday off from work, the truck finally arrives, they unbox the stove and its smashed. Unusable. So back it goes to the warehouse with the promise of a replacement the next morning, Thursday.
Tim takes another day off from work, and as hes dropping me off at school they call and ask, What time shall we deliver your new stove Friday? Tim says, Youre supposed to bring it today! They apologize and schedule for Friday. Meanwhile Tim continues on to the island to get some work in, but he had no tools with him because he hadnt planned for this. It was much harder to work without them.
The next day we flip the chicken again to even out the marinade, and Tim gets the call to schedule the drop off. Only instead of picking a time, they inform him that upon checking this new stove they found that it is also damaged. So they wont be coming down. Oh, and by the way, we have no more of those models left. Not sure when theyll send us more.
So I wound up smoking and roasting the chicken in the toaster oven Friday night, after soaking it for half a week in the fridge! It fit, but took almost an extra hour to cook through and crisp up the skin. The sugar peas were soggy and the quinoa was cold when we finally carved into it. But we didnt die from eating old, weirdly cooked chicken, so I guess theres that.

(162 posts)It's a countertop oven that can fit two frozen pizza or 9 x 13 pans. it has a convection mode which is exactly what an "air fryer is. Big plus is a built in rotisserie that can handle a 5 lb chicken. Final perk is at counter height strain on back problems are eliminated. Since I got one my oven is only used when family comes for a holiday meal and multiple ovens are needed. It does require a large piece of countertop but I've never regretted the loss-I LOVE this thing!

(971 posts)Shortly after moving into this house, with a lot of new construction going on in the neighborhood, we had a sudden power outage occur just when it was time to cook dinner.
The chicken was cut up and the charcoal was lit. Power restored just before time to sit down, but everything was ready to go already.
Since you had power, there are other options, such as the toaster oven you used. Mine would be the pellet grill, but I'm psycho that way.

(50,559 posts)There is definitely a shortage of factory-stock ranges in the market right now.
