(8,922 posts)I've been taking care of a feral cat for about 6 weeks now.
I could tell she was pregnant. Then one day she comes over to the
house and she was a lot thinner; she had dropped her litter.
I told the neighbors to keep an eye out for a litter of kittens.
The neighbor across the street was watering her plants in the garden
and got the kittens wet. They started howling.
The little girl runs across the street to let me know they found the litter.
I went over and found 3 newborns (about 5 days old, eyes not opened yet),
wet, cold and screaming.
I came home and picked up a box and a blanket and brought them home.
When mom arrived I showed her the kittens. She sniffed them and then
jumped in the box and started licking them to clean them up.
Spending the night for the first time, I knew she was a little hesitant, but
she was with her babies (2 males, 1 female).
Then next morning when I got up, the kittens were missing. Mom had
hidden them. Took about 5 minutes to find them. The next night she hid
even better that it took me 20 minutes to find them.
She continues to hide them every night, but I've limited the hiding places,
so I find them immediately. This morning, the kittens were screaming and
woke me up. So I got up and put them back in their box.
I'm waiting for the day those kittens are as cute and active as this little
white kitten in the video.
