I’ve only had one other cat in my life do it. My cat now prefers to fetch soft toys or wadded up paper. The other cat loved fetching bottle caps!

His name was Jack and he was orange also. We used a small super ball. Our house had a hall with a mirror at one end. We would throw the ball so it bounced off the walls and he learned to watch the mirror to see where it went, then would chase it down and bring it back to you and drop it at your feet. He would play as long as you would throw the ball. Once the ball bounced into the bathroom and he went in after it and didn't come out. I followed him in and found that it had bounced into the litter box. He looked up at me with a disgusted expression as if to say, "I am NOT going in after it!" so I had to get it out and wash it off before we resumed the game.

We had a tub shower with sliding glass doors and he would take the super ball in there if someone left the doors open and bat it around. Sometimes he would do that at night, which was kind of noisy. We learned to shut those glass doors at night because he would also go in there and "sing" just to hear himself.
