Wow was I surprised when I got up this morning! I turned my clocks back last night before I went to bed. It has always been the last Sunday of October since as long as I can remember.
But I didn't get the memo that it's not today, it's next Sunday. Now I'm going around and changing my clocks back to DST for one more week.

(102,292 posts)do our final slightly shorter walk in the evening. So, not much for me to notice.
I do love my sunshine, but I like the change too. The worst thing for me is the carb-craving that I have to fight.

(32,645 posts)That's when the clocks jump back to 1 a.m. and we officially recover the hour that we skipped back in March.
So most of us are in bed before that time, and we just change the clocks before going to bed. When I was a younger night owl, often I was still up for the 1 to 2 a.m. (or 2 to 1 a.m.) clock changing ritual.

(23,691 posts)They end up working an extra hour and they don't get paid for it (in some circumstances). The reasoning is they make up for it when the clocks are set forward an hour in the spring. Doesn't help for those who aren't working that shift in the spring, or at the same employer.
Don't know how long that's been an issue, just heard about it recently from a hospital employee.

(32,645 posts)So many school kids have to catch the bus earlier than 8 a.m. and many are out on busy roads. It would be really unsafe for those kiddos to be waiting for their school bus in the dark. I'm sure that's not the only reason. But for most parents it's a good enough reason to not allow DST to carry through the winter time.
