It's a very common cat response to the restraint sensation.

LOL....

Now is when you put a treat close but just out of reach enough that they have to stand/move to reach it, then offer a distracting toy.

For most of her 14 years, the outdoors terrified her. I'd put on the harness, carry her outside and she'd just flop down or strain to get back into the house. Then, in the last 6 months of her life she developed a LOVE of the outdoors and gladly wore her harness.

I plan to try getting Madoc and Gryff into harnesses.

really gets my attention.

We tried it with one of our cats. I harnessed her, took her outside and down she went. I tried dragging her a few feet - nothing. Until the squirrel roared by and they both went up a tree. I learned. We never did that again.
