Just felt a 5.8 earthquake.

Just a little north on the Costa Rica/Nicaragua border.

Very exciting if there’s no damage.

Getty/AFP A strong earthquake is one that registers between 6 and 6.0 on the Richter scale. There are about 100 of these around the world every year and they usually cause some damage. In populated areas, the damage may be severe.

There are about 300 a month but only feel the few.

Our real danger is if the Tonorio Volcano ever gets active. We live at the base of it.
