Today I moved a heavy reclining sofa from my living room to a room in my finished basement. All by myself.
I am invincible!
(Full disclosure: They're not difficult to take apart. 12 bolts hold the three sections together, and the backs come off easily too. The hardest part is putting it all back together again. It would have been cake with someone helping, but I did it!)
On Friday I get to do the same thing with the reclining loveseat.

(8,445 posts)When I bought the set a couple of years ago, two strong delivery guys brought them in already assembled. I was worried I wasn't going to be able to maneuver them around some tight corners. It was just so much easier than I thought it was going to be.
I might not always do things the correct way, and it may take me WAY longer than knowledgeable people, but I give it my best shot.

(24,504 posts)everyday is an opportunity to learn something you did not know the previous day. And I awake every day to that thought. Pretty much.
I think I missed a lot of learning opportunities when I was younger because I was always too busy to notice things happening around me.
For awhile I was depending on one of my sons to guide me through things, and then he started using some tough love on me to force me to do my research and figure it out on my own. It's just so much easier to learn how to do things these days than it used to be before the world wide web came along. All the information is just a click away.
I'm pretty sure that some of my neighbors just watch my antics and shake their heads sometimes.

(8,445 posts)I was worried I was going to damage it somehow, but I didn't hurt the sofa, and I also didn't knock any holes in my walls.

(8,445 posts)The thought crossed my mind that I might just fall down the stairs and my kids would eventually wonder what happened to me and come over and find me there with a piece of furniture on top of me, which would be sort of funny, except the part where I'd likely be dead.

"Well, that's the way she would have wanted it. Yeah, but now we have to find someone to get it off her."
Congratulations. Surprising how many skills we didn't know we have.

(8,445 posts)Awhile back I told one of my grandsons that if I'm ever hooked up to a machine in a hospital with no hope of recovery, I want him to start singing, "Let Her Go" to the tune of "Let It Go" from Frozen. He said he wasn't going to do that, and I told him he had to because it was one of my Final Requests.
He's 20 years old, so he can handle my humor. Except I'm not really joking.
