The Colossus of Apennine

North of Florence, in the small town of Villa di Pratolino, there exists a 10-meter tall sculpture that resides over the foot of the Apennine mountains. The Apennine Colossus was created by the Italian sculpture Giambologna (Giovanni Bologna) around 1581 and stands as a representation of Atlas from Virgil’s Aeneid.
