Cinematic cave art

Somewhere I read a science article about a Mediterranean cave with ancient drawings of animals deep inside the cave, on a ledge. When, instead of using artificial lighting to view the drawings, archaeologists used torches, as the original artists must have, in the flickering light from the torch flames the archaeologists saw the stags appear to leap and run and the horses gallop with their manes and tails swishing.

Cinematic cave art. How cool is that? (The article states that whether the effect was intentional is "controversial." )

Talk about seeing things in a different light!

About these paintings and that the tour guide he was listening to showed this very phenomenon. That was years ago.
