I didnt ask if anyone is ambiguous about em, which I consider highly unlikely. Personally, I love em, but if anyone else is sharing the pizza, Im always overruled. Now, I always mention anchovies when pizza is ordered just to gage peoples reaction, which more often than not approaches an outright gag reflex.
If you love anchovies, do you keep quiet when toppings are being chosen because of others negative reactions? If you go solo with a personal pizza, can you even find them nowadays?

(10,242 posts)As I remember I didnt really like like a straight anchovy pizza but its been 50 years.

(2,203 posts)If I am in the mood, I simply ask the pizza place to put them in a little side container and I just add 'em to my slices. Otherwise I'd never be able to get any.

(522 posts)So I usually get it plain, but do enjoy peppers and onions. Could do pepperoni 🍕

(46,082 posts)But I recognize most people don't, so I usually don't ask for them. However, please don't put any pineapple near my pizza.

(15,391 posts)A co-worker and I got to talking. She's lived in places closer to the ocean than I have (I'm a midwesterner) so while I enjoy fish, I don't like shrimp, and I find crab, lobsters, etc. too much work. Anyway, we got to talking anchovies. A couple of friends from another state came into town, and we went to a pizza by the slice place, and remembering my talk with my co-worker, I asked them to put a singular anchovy on one of my slices.
Conclusion: Very salty. It would be like olives or mayo for me. I don't care for them, but not to the point that they're deal-breakers. So I am highly unlikely.

(63,221 posts)I just don't see the point. I like it either plain or with mostly vegetable combos or single veg toppings. I love spinach, artichoke and feta, or arugula and a little prosciutto (ok, I know that is meat, and I only like a little), or mushrooms, or pretty much any veggie combo. Sometimes I like a really good Italian sausage with ricotta, or just ricotta with any vegetable.

(5,479 posts)When we get a pizza I usually add anchovies and tell them to put all of them that would normally be spread around on half the pizza...essentially, double anchovies on my half. (When I was living alone and ordering just for me I'd usually ask for double, anyway.)
Grew up with them (Italian family), and always loved them.
One place nearby had what's known as 'white anchovies', which are not packed in salt for as long as the regular ones and are cured differently, and don't take on the brown color from all the salt. Closer to fresh fish with a slightly salty, vinegar taste, very popular in other countries, but not usually easy to find here.

(15,265 posts)However I remember that it was salty and I finished it. I'll have to look for a place that offers them and try it again.
