I tried a new "easy recipe" using pre shredded hashbrowns... And the cage free egg was definitely noticeable.
Didn't have any sour cream. So I looked up a whipping cream substitute using a little vinegar.
Came out perfect! I mis that my daughter isn't here to share with, this was always her favorite of the year. (She's out on her own now, will be making them for her roomate I suppose. )
So cute, she actually borrowed my menorah this year so she could do the lights herself

(13,360 posts)But I did get to be in the B'nai B'rith Youth Org in high school. Really good program. It amazed me how one of the main focuses in their platform was teaching tolerance and inter-faith relations. For a people who are marginalized and treated so horribly, they spend a lot of time striving for equality for ALL.
My daughter has decided to dig into her Jewish roots, and she's learning Hebrew, and observing the holidays. It's really heartwarming to see her find some comfort in her roots.

(12,132 posts)I'm not anything but I do love some latkes. Well, we just call them potato pancakes but my favorite ones are from a local deli chain that has the most delicious Jewish food I've ever had. Especially since that was the last place my grandpa ever took me for my birthday before he died.
My wife's dad used to raise chickens in their backyard and they always had a basket of fresh eggs on the counter but I don't remember if they tasted any different - it's been close to 40 years since I have even had one. My wife swears they were better though lol.

Happy Hanukkah!
