He broke his leg when he was young. Vets attitude around here is--so have him for dinner. We tried splinting it, but that didn't work. That leg ended up growing much bigger, and he kind of gets around on his, "elbow". He seems happy, and still breeds the hens, so we've let him be.

It's an ultra-Orthodox Jewish custom performed in connection with Yom Kippur.
