I don't THINK it's a new feral. I'm pretty sure I recognize it as one that I haven't seen since Springtime. Of course, I could be wrong. I guess I'll just keep watch to see if it shows up, again.

(26,266 posts)I see Skittish, Mittens the Kitten and Scooter, every single day. Spooky on most days and there's an occasional sighting of Bruiser, the big tomcat. But that's been it.
Early on there were a couple others (like this one, or one very similar) but I also saw a couple at the side of the road, hit by cars.
I am going to stock up on food for the ferals, next week, just in case the numbers do increase.

(115,721 posts)During the Depression hoboes would draw symbols on fences and walls indicating whether it was a place where other hoboes could get a meal. The hobo symbol for "A kind-hearted woman lives here" was a cat:
Maybe cats draw the equivalent symbol for other cats on your house.

(26,266 posts)My grandfather worked for Buick, well before the unions came along. My dad said they used to shoot squirrels to have meat for dinner. And, when the train coal cars went by the kids would jeer at the men on the train so they'd throw coal at them to shut them up. Then they'd take the coal home to heat the house. They were pretty poor but managed to share what they had, whether it was family or strangers.
There was one hobo, I think she said they called him 'Captain Jack', who would carve toys out of wood for my dad, as a sort of repayment for the food.

(26,266 posts)There's another household that feeds ferals, at the opposite end of the subdivision. Maybe this is one of theirs, on a walk-about.
And I THOUGHT that looked like a tipped ear.
