The 24 Best Stouts in America to Try This Winter

This is gonna get dark.

https://www.thrillist.com/drink/where-to-drink-cosmopolitans-in-chicago

IPAs tend to hog a lot of the beer-loving spotlight, but for true believers, the holiest of grails are those containing stouts. There’s a reason beer nerds gather in dank cellars to swap precious, limited-edition, coal-black stouts, and why for some, Dark Lord Day brings more joy than Christmas morning. Whether they’re flagship offerings from great breweries or one-off, barrel-aged masterpieces that change in flavor profile every day, stouts are among the most beloved, complex, and sought-after beers on the planet.

So, choosing the best stouts of the moment is probably a fool’s errand. Luckily, we’ve (mostly) forgone consulting fools, instead opting to enlist a panel of beer experts to name the stouts you should be seeking out right now. While some of the stouts on this list are widely available, many require a pilgrimage to a brewery. Others demand that you buy a ticket to a launch event. And some require you to take to the dark (beer) web in order to find people willing to sell or trade their precious bottles after they’ve disappeared from shelves. But we’re confident you’ll be able to seek out even the whitest of whales on this list. And when you do…wanna trade?

2. Introducing my wife to stouts

Turned her from a wine drinker.

Later she expressed surprise at the amount of weight gain she was experiencing.

Explained side effects of the love of beer, she is still built for speed with a bit of cushion.

Love her with all my heart.

I'm a better person because of her influence instead of the asshole i was.

Truly hope she outlasts me I would be lost without her. Love my wife Bonnie to the moon.

5. Depends what type of Guinness. Guinness Draught in the widget can is very meh,

Guinness Extra Stout (called Original in some countries, or also XX, but it gets really confusing as it is brewed at either 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.8, 5.0, 5.6 or even 6.0% ABV depending on the country) is better but nothing that special.

My favourite Guinness is their Imperial Stout (but can be hard to find)

and 2nd favourite is their Special Export Stout (easier to find than the Imperial and FAR better than the Draught in a can and the Original Extra)

3rd favourite would be their Foreign Extra Stout

(also far better than either the Draught or the Original Extra)

Also, IF you can find it, the Nigerian brewed Foreign Extra Stout is the best, as they use sorghum as well, giving it more complexity

Guinness West Indies Porter is realllly good too

One of the better Porters by an industrial brewer
