A meaningful day

I'm seeing more of my grandkids, since we are all vaccinated. We used to see the kids several days a week, but my daughter is worried about my getting Covid from them, so the last year I haven't seen a lot of them. It is wonderful to be seeing them again so often.

The other day, I saw them and my grandson asked me if I had any antique watches. I asked him if he wanted them for taking apart or wearing. He said he wanted a watch to wear. I had my husband's retirement watch, a Seiko, put away. My husband didn't like metal straps, so he never wore it. I offered it to my grandson, and he said he'd wear it. I called the jeweler who has done work for me before, also a friend of my son-in-law, grandson's Dad, and they had batteries and other services.

I took the watch with me when picked the kids up from school today, so my grandson could see it. He really liked it, so we stopped at the jewelry store on the way home. I expected to drop it off, but they changed the battery right away. When my grandson tried it on, it was a little loose, so the jeweler took some links out, and adjusted it so it is a perfect fit. I could tell my grandson is really pleased and I am so happy to pass it along.

Bonus: my granddaughter was in the jewelry store with us and I asked her if she saw anything she fell in love with. A few minutes later, she showed me a bracelet she liked. So while she was looking at wedding rings, I bought the bracelet and will pick it up tomorrow for her Christmas present I am a happy grandma today.
