"And now, the HOST of Jeopardy!..."

Yes, I know it's a very fine distinction, but there must be a reason that TPTB always refer to Mayim Bialik as "the Host of Jeopardy!", but don't give Ken Jennings the same title. Whenever KJ is on, the announcer says "and now, hostING Jeopardy! is Ken Jennings."

While I realize this isn't a big deal in our daily lives, I am curious as to why they're obviously making this distinction.

C'mon Jeopardy fans...any thoughts?

1. Maybe she insisted on that in her contract, and he didn't, and TPTB weren't willing to see if

she was bluffing. I dunno.

2. This is a "special" not regular Jeopardy.

It's "professors" week. Mayim is either a professor herself or just brilliant at her other work. So she makes sense.

After regular "Jeopardy" starts again, we'll have a new regular Jeopardy host.

That's my take on it.

4. I'm not questioning why MB is there;

more, I wonder about the choice of verbiage. In fact, with MB hosting the specials and tournaments, and KJ hosting the regular daily games, it makes more sense to me that KJ would be "the Host" and MB "hosting".

In any event, still pulling for Buzzy as permanent Host.

he has a job as consulting producer, which he has held for over a year.

I would like to see him as the permanent host (or Buzzy Cohen, but he reportedly does not want the job). Not a fan of Mayim, though.

I hope she's the one who's going to get the permanent gig.

Jennings would be my second choice. I keep wondering, will he ever play the game again? I hope not, because he's on top of the game now (GOAT) and how could he improve on that?

Another former champion I would love to see as a host is Brad Rutter.

In any event, I thought they had settled on a permanent host. Apparently not, but I wish they would. As a fan of the show, I don't like this months-long limbo.
