A couple of years ago I bought a new TV for my exercise room. Last week the remote began malfunctioning. Yesterday I filed a claim with the extended warranty carrier. I explained the problem with the remote and the fact that the TV itself is working fine.
I later received an email from the warranty company that an e-gift card has been sent to my Amazon account for the full purchase price of the TV.
I entered an online chat with a representative at the company telling them that I only need a new remote. The response was, We consider the matter closed, and no further action is necessary.
Okay then!

(17,865 posts)and pocket the rest. Probably pulling, shipping, and documenting a new remote costs more than just writing off the cost of the TV.

(38,436 posts)It was a Zenith TV with a remote..
So...Zenith had an office in the Chicago area where I live, and I went to complain.
The fellow who waited on me, (I think it was a headquarters building...looked at the thing for a while, (after I explained
the problem) went back in a room and got out a new remote and just handed it to me. He said something like this...
"Here is a new one, it should work just fine"..
..........I guess that is what happens when the company has HQ near you...Yes, Zenith TVs were a Chicago company.
..........I think they were made in a Chicago factory back in the late 60s..
..........Oh well, that is swell.............time to ..

...."What does two boxes mean in a text message?...Here is what 2BE said:
3 Answers. Texting is basically instant messaging for your phone. might be two smiley faces..." I think they sent you 2 emoticons and can not be displayed in your phone, therefore you only see 2 squares. Squares represent being peaceful, solid, and equal.

(57,134 posts)... there was a guy in front of me who's sliding stove top had shorted and caught fire.
All he wanted was the piece that had failed.
"That part isn't covered by warranty."
"Why not?"
"It never fails."
"But this one did."
"I see."
"Well, now I need a new one."

I don't remember the resolution, but the discussion is 'seared' in my memory.

(38,436 posts)about Zenith...found from my friend 2BE:
Zenith was the last well-known American made television brand, until it sold off shares to LG, a Korean company in 1995. LG owned 100 percent of Zenith by 1999, eventually putting 1,200 workers at Zeniths Melrose Park facility out of a job.

My best TV story from a few years ago. TV broke early one evening. I had the discussion with myself about when to take it back to Best Buy. Get it over with go now. Wait till tomorrow you can watch TV in the bedroom. Go now won. So around 7pm I roll into Best Buy. Guy looks up the serial number and says wow, you bought the extended warranty and it expires today! Left with a new TV and a smile and saved $500.
