How things be witchoo, my son? Stopped in, saw Sarge’s “state tunes” post and was back in! LOL!

Had to be a sick show. My first album was Piece Of Mind (and Thriller. My parents saw the artwork for Piece and tried to steer me in a different direction.)

My musician uncle gave me a dubbed tape of Saxon a few weeks later. Dude? This tune was played so much I wore out the tape!

Good to see man, you should stop by more often

And yeah that tune is badass. They were great that night too.

My mom made me put my Number of the Beast album-cover poster someplace in my room where someone walking by wouldn't see it lol ...

I feel you. I was banned from buying AC/DC when I was a kid. Fast forward 20+ years and mom is all, “I love AC/DC! That one song. It starts with a bell? Bong, bong.” Yeah ma, I know the tune! It’s Hell’s Bells. If I listened to it at 12 I was going to be sacrificing neighborhood children, remember?

'appropriate at your age' lol.

My mom isn't rocking any AC/DC still but she's become more liberal overall and is willing to listen to a tiny bit 'harder' stuff without losing her mind about how 'loud and angry' it sounds.

Like in the 80's 'Life in the Fast Lane' was too hard rock for her, now she knows a bunch of the words and will hum along.

And their stage show has become even more of a spectacle. Nothing but fun and they are coming back next year so I might get to see them again.

Chord heavy, loud sound. I dunno, I like Pink Floyd's version of Learning to Fly, better. If we are talking about flying....

Back in the day, I much preferred acoustic/electric bands that you could marvel at, love the message, and even dance if you are so motivated. Lots of sounds to choose from, but heavy metal wasn't on the radar.

But that's the whole point, I guess. Creating the contrast.

One of the best live performances I've ever seen. ... better than the studio version. The end is about as Floyd as you can get without being Floyd

Can't remember much of it though. Regretfully I've never seen Maiden. ...had tickets for Floyd but decided not to go at the last minute. I regret not being able to say I've seen them but not sure I regret, actually, not going.

For 90125 I was on a hit of purple pyramid I scored at Peoples Park before walking up the hill to the Greek (Berkeley). So it's a bit hazy for me as well, other than remembering it was one of the best nights of my life

And Floyd on both DSOT and Division Bell tours ...

DSOT was the better show IMHO ... in some measure because I much prefer DSOT as a record.

I'm partial to "To Tame a Land", "Die With Your boots On" and 'Still Life". "The Trooper" can die in a fire. It's soooo played out.
