kids are 19 & 20... the oldest (29) and his family live in the same town but havent spoken to me in years.
Daughter lives across town, working in Hotel and going to college... It's been snowing like crazy and she is working too so we're gonna go out for dinner sometime soon and meanwhile we text every day to say hi etc.
Son moved back in with me over summer. Now is very involved with his gf family. He was already planning on staying over there for Cmas, but then they all got coviud so they are basically quarantining for the Holiday
SO I'm stuck here. Can't get out the snow is so bad... And since I was exposed to Covid I should eb isolating anyway.
I got some chicken and was gonna experiment by making a wellington recipe. But for now it's just iced tea and a grilled cheese.
Bored. Been stuck here since mon/tues due to snow, it sucks just looking at it piling up.
Kinda miss the days when they were little and so much excitement... But I don't miss being woke up at the ass crack of dawn either!
Merry Merry, maybe I'll just go back to bed.

(57,073 posts)Empty nest xmas here too. Funny how short & selective human memory can be, isn't it?
But, DU is like that hotel chain: "We keep the lights on."
Someone is always here to chat with if you are lonely.
Make yourself a great meal. You deserve it!
